The Center for Life Skills Development, L.L.C. was developed through the collaborative efforts of Mark Nichols and Roberta Lewusz in the Spring
of 2000. Together, they have over twenty years of experience in counseling, administration, and education. They have specializations in the fields of addictions, DUI treatment
trauma, eating disorders, sexuality, domestic violence offender and victim treatment, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, life transition, and communication problems within
relationships.
The Center, in an effort to provide additional, cost effective, quality services, also added individual, family, and couples counseling to its list of services. Currently we provide Spanish speaking services for individuals, couples, families, and groups.
The Center has provided training to multiple agencies and organizations,
including Bankruptcy Court, Adult Probation staff, Rincon High School, and Drug Court. In December of 2005, the Center became the
treatment provider for the Drug Court in Pima County. We have a working relationship with the Oracle Court to provide professional services for them at their court house site.
In September of 2002, the Center made application to the Arizona Department of Health Services to provide DUI screening, education, and treatment services. Application was also
made for approval as an Out Patient Clinic. These applications were approved in November of 2002. The initial survey resulted in a deficiency free survey by licensure.
Realizing the need to expand the Center's offices, the Center relocated in November of 2002. This allowed the Center additional space for administrative offices and
individual and group rooms. This further enabled the Center to sign an Affiliation Agreement with the University of Phoenix, allowing the Center to provide educational and
counseling services to graduate level students in the Master of Counseling Program. All students work under the direct supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor. Their
services are made available to clients at a reduced rate. In 2006, we signed an additional affiliation with the University of Phoenix to be an intern site for their Bachelor
of Human Services Program.
Constantly aware of our need to provide relevant and affordable services to our community, the Center provides various workshops and seminars throughout the year. In
addition, the Center has created a non-profit agency entitled, Life Builders. This program is designed exclusively to treat our seriously mentally ill (SMI) population.
On November 2, 2005, we sumitted an Initial Application to the Arizona Department of Health Services to request the program's licensure. The license was granted on April 24, 2006.
The Center is fully licensed through the Department of Health Services and presently has fifteen therapists and five clerical staff to meet the growing needs of the organization.
